Clicking onto this you probably wonder what screen printing is? It is a force ink or metal onto (a surface) through a prepared screen of fine material so as to create a picture or pattern, according to google. The picture above shows examples of screen printing. Screen printing has layers of different color. For example; The genie above has one layer, the picture of Maleficent and Minnie mouse are two layers, and the one with Pocahontas has four layers. Although, the extra layers created were made with vinyl, but technically they aren't considered as actual layers. Screen printing materials mainly consist of inks, silk screens, glues, squeegees.
Now lets go into the history of screen printing. The earliest recognizable screen printing appeared 1000 years ago in China. As the years went by it became more popular in Europe during the 18th century. Later on it was used to spread ideas in the United States during the 60's. Screen printing has become more and more popular as the years go by, you may even know an artist who makes screen printing.
Clare Halifax is a screen printing artist know for her work that combines her interest in textile and highly detailed draws of architectural landscapes. Peter Blake also a screen printing artist is famous for his pop art of the 60's. Andy Warhol, a very famous artist, also used screen printing.
